Case Study of Marine Aquaculture Protection in the Shuangdun Fishing Port Project

Project Overview

The Shuangdun Fishing Port Project is located in Bailong Village, Jiangshan Town, Fangcheng District, Fangchenggang City, Guangxi Province. The first phase of the project—channel dredging and terminal upgrading—covers a land area of 4,198 mu and a sea area of 1,883 mu. The main wharf line extends approximately 989.6 meters with an entrance channel width of 60 meters.
The project aims to revitalize the marine economy, improve the port’s fishing capacity, and enhance the ecological environment surrounding the aquaculture zones. With a total investment of about 300 million RMB, it includes the construction of 13 berths for 200 HP fishing vessels and 2 berths for 600 HP vessels, achieving an annual unloading capacity of 40,000 tons.

Technical Scheme

The Shuangdun Fishing Port project is located in a densely cultivated marine aquaculture area, surrounded by numerous fish cages, oyster rafts, and seaweed farms. To minimize the environmental impact of dredging and reclamation activities, the project implemented the integral permeable anti-pollution curtain system designed by HOKBG®. Main technical measures include:

  • Integral permeable silt curtains with floatation, curtain fabric, and anchoring systems
  • Permeable curtain design: The curtain extends from the sea surface to 4m underwater, isolating the pollution source while maintaining water flow.
  • Installation and maintenance guidance for coastal and nearshore operations

HOKBG Supply Scope

HOKBG provided full sets of marine environmental protection materials and technical services, including:

  • Integral permeable silt curtains with floatation, curtain fabric, and anchoring systems
  • Real-time Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of temperature, salinity, and turbidity ensures the water environment meets marine organism growth standards.

Material properties
All materials were designed for high durability against UV exposure, seawater corrosion, and strong tidal conditions.

Project Achievement

The project achieved remarkable results in protecting the surrounding marine aquaculture ecosystems. The application of HOKBG’s anti-pollution curtains effectively reduced water turbidity, maintained high transparency, and protected the local fish, shellfish, and seaweed farms from contamination.
The project became a model of eco-friendly fishery port construction in Guangxi Province, balancing infrastructure development with marine environmental preservation, and supporting sustainable growth of the local fishing economy.
