Case Study Of The Jingu River Waterway Dredging Project In Guangxi

Project Overview

The Guangxi Jingu River Channel Dredging Project is a major river regulation and environmental improvement project in Guangxi. Its primary mission is to remove silt, improve navigation conditions and expand the two-way navigation capacity from 50,000 tons to 100,000 tons. Located in southern China, the project balances ecological protection with waterway improvement, aiming to restore the river's natural hydrodynamics and achieve sustainable development for both shipping and the environment.

Project Timeline

Technical Scheme

This project uses a cutter suction dredger and supporting vessels to remove silt from the main channel. In order to reduce secondary pollution and turbidity spread, anti-pollution curtains are installed at the mud discharge outlets, supplemented by geotextile enclosure measures. The silt dredged from the channel is then blown into the coastal cofferdam area, where it is treated as a soft soil foundation to create land for the dock.

HOKBG Supply Scope

HOKBG provided an anti-fouling curtain system for this project, supporting dredging and environmental protection work. The scope of supply included:

  • Integral silt curtain system with floats, curtain fabric and anchoring devices, totaling 11,000 m.Aging-resistant and salt-alkali-resistant integral cord fabric
  • On-site installation technical guidance

Project Achievement

This dredging project effectively restored the waterway depth, improved shipping efficiency, ensured shipping safety and created new dock space. The application of the HOKBG anti-fouling curtain system effectively controlled sediment spread during construction, ensuring full compliance with environmental standards. The project successfully passed inspection and was recognized as a model case study in green dredging and sustainable waterway management in Guangxi.
